The Best and Worst of ‘Bachelor’ Contestant’s Night One Dresses
The stakes for night one are high; every girl that steps out of the limo is hoping to make a memorable entrance to earn their spot in the house. Whether it’s a basic black maxi dress, a sequin gown, or quite literally, dressing up as a windmill, the Bachelor contestants show up night one ready to fight for the first impression rose.
When I envision what I would wear (when I’m a future contestant of course), I can’t help but channel Demi Burnett from Colton’s season. Burnett arrived at the house in a unique yellow two-piece dress that set her apart from the other women’s gowns. Also, it’s hard to forget a girl who’s opening line is “I haven’t dated a virgin since I was 12.”
Now, we have begun Peter, aka ‘Pilot Pete’s’ season. I was both over and underwhelmed by the dresses the first night. We got to see some really unique and edgy silhouettes, but the hues for the night were very gothic; give us some color ladies!
Starting out with the worst dressed of the evening, we have Courtney, Shiann, and Deandra who all committed this fashion crime: Prom Dress at 25.
Don’t get me wrong, these girls are both absolutely stunning, but their gowns scream 2016 prom. I can specifically remember trying on almost a carbon copy of these dresses in high school. I loved the dresses then, but they’re fit for party buses, not limos.
Our second fashion flops of the night go to Kelley and Kiarra who may have subconsciously told Peter they aren’t fit to get married.
Both the dresses fit well and flatter the women’s bodies, and I give props to Kelley for playing with color, however these outfits just scream ‘bridesmaid’ to me. Ladies, we are fighting to be his bride! Ditch the bridesmaids dresses to the other girls and put them in their place.
Okay, enough with the negativity, let’s celebrate the hidden gems of the night.
Starting off with possibly my favorite, is Kylie.
I know I talked about being bold with color, but color can step aside if your dress has layers of tulle. I love this unconventional silhouette, and she was the only girl to incorporate sheerness without lace. I can’t find anything wrong with this look, except for the fact that she got sent home night one! At least she finished strong. Right?
Next best dressed goes to the girl who could sit however she’d like without flashing TV, was Lauren in a jaw-dropping jumpsuit.
Jumpsuits have been on the rise in fashion the last few years, but not many girls in Bachelor history have used this silhouette night one. We commend Lauren for her daringness and confidence on a night where nerves are high.
Everyone stop what they’re doing and admire Sydney’s dress; you can’t help but stare when someone looks THIS good.
Even though this dress kind of reminds me of a figure skating costume, she still looks like a glamorous figure skater. For real, her champagne dress adorned with silver designs was a perfect look for this occasion. Even her hair and makeup were a perfect 10/10 and still didn’t distract from the dress.
Lastly, we have a girl who wasn’t even a contestant but still managed to shake up the other girls; former Bachelorette, Hannah Brown.
Jaws were on the floor when Brown stepped out of her own limo in this red key-hole gown. The color screams playful and fun, but the high slit screams ‘I’m here for a reason’. Even if the reason was to just ‘give advice’ I think we can collectively agree she should walk into the mansion and give Peter another shot.
Have your own best dressed, or other Bachelor gossip? (no spoilers, please!). We would love to hear it! Tag us at @theedgemag to be featured.
