Boys Lie, Goodbye!
Hoodies that promote a brand aren’t anything new in the world of fashion. We are all familiar with the classic GAP hoodie with the name clear across the chest, or the iconic Gucci crewneck with the staple red and green stripes. But, how often do you see a brand name that also makes a (true) statement? We introduce to you, Boys Lie.
Boys Lie was founded by Tori Robinson and Leah O’Malley who both grew up on the same street in Philadelphia. The two went to separate colleges across the US, but ultimately found their way back to one another after splitting up with their long-term boyfriends, who were best friends. Sharing their stories with one another helped them overcome obstacles like trust issues and self doubt that are common in relationships; they decided to use their power to help other girls overcome those as well.

The two girl bosses have created a fashion empire for themselves! Their iconic hoodie and sweat-pant sets feature one of a kind designs and catchy slogans, it’s no wonder celebrities are starting to pick up these pieces!
Gigi Hadid, Victoria’s Secret Model, recently was spotted out on the town in a ‘Boys Lie’ set after her split with Bachelorette star, Tyler Cameron. Bad timing or is she dropping hints? Either way, we love it.
Tana Mongeau, YouTube and MTV sensation, rocked their ‘1-800-BOYS-LIE’ hoodie in a video where she explains her relationship with husband, Jake Paul. We know these hoodies are comfortable, but Tana we see you! Blink twice if you need help.
I’ve gotten my hands on a few of their pieces (and I guard them with my life). My favorite way to style these hoodies is with biker shorts and fun shoes. The sweatshirts are one size, and equal to about a women’s XL. For a girl who is 5 foot 2, I am obligated to style these as a dress, which has thus become the staple trend for me.
The black hoodie reads ‘What are you going to do without him?’ on the front of it with white stitching. The back of the sweatshirt is styled with a pop art woman who is saying ‘Whatever I want’. Both elements of the design are insanely high quality, and I have had no issues with fraying or decal peeling. I make sure to show the front and back of this piece when I wear it out, just to remind the people girls are their own person without a guy, obviously!
This white hoodie turns heads from fashion lovers, Barbie lovers, and just about every other person out there. This sweatshirt has Barbie on the front with devil horns on, and with the signature pink font, reads ‘Boys Lie’. When you turn around, the back has a design of a Ken doll that says ‘Ken you not’. We don’t know what Ken did to Barbie, but if your little sister has the Barbie and Ken dream house, we urge you to send Ken packing!
The Boys Lie denim hoodie is referred to the brand as their first born child. The front features cherub-like figures with devil horns, and the back has a quote by Carson Patrick Bowie. The quote reads, “Let me be clear, my love is unconditional, but your presence in my life is not. The moment that you prove that your value of me does not measure up to my sense of self-worth, I’ll have no problem unconditionally loving the memory of you and moving on.” Two words: MIC DROP! Just like the site says, good luck ever taking this off.
Boys Lie pieces usually range from $100 to $160 dollars. Taking into account the quality and artwork, this is a very fair price to pay. Keep your eyes on the site for new drops and get your cards ready, these sell out fast! You’ll want these on your Christmas list.
The goal of this brand is to promote that something beautiful can come from a dark or painful place; this is a product of heartache. The founders say, “Sometimes we all just need that push in the right direction, that encouragement from an outsider’s voice, or a compliment from a stranger.”
We love this brand and the message they send to all of their customers. We urge you to check out their site HERE to shop, or follow their socials @boyslie for inspirational quotes and updates on launches and products.
If you grab one of these pieces, we would love to see how you style it! Tag us #elonootd to be featured.
